Peroxide (Lyn Todd Band) - Heart Disease - Christine

Don't know anything about singer Lyn Todd, but backstage mentor and Hi-NRG luminary Bobby O went on to notoriety with Divine and then fame with the Pet Shop Boys. He's basically the star of the show here, even furnishing a sharp Midnight Express-style instrumental, "Metropolis Suite." Otherwise, Lyn Todd belts out a batch of dazzling rock/disco ditties that never outstay their welcome. The remakes actually emerge weaker than the killer originals on this great but very rare record.

Lyn Todd's only known album sports the auspice of future disco magnate Bobby Orlando, who played most of the instruments and wrote most of the material. The resultant Lyn Todd record showcases excellent '70s rock bolstered by nascent Hi-NRG. The talented Orlando immediately went on to launch his independent label O Records, which featured Divine and the Flirts, among others. Two members of Lyn Todd's band, sax-blowing keyboardist Mamie Frances and guitarist Geoff Lipp, also played with New York punkers Arthur's Dilemma, Peroxide, and Now.

The above was lifted from the web and is about the full length album that Lyn Todd put out in 1980. It was all the info i could find about Lyn Todd and i could not find anything about this 45 release. This must be from before the full length album because i don't hear any "disco" influence on this punky power pop/rock 45...?

Any help on this release would be appreciated!?!??

So is this really Bad Finger under the Magic Christians moniker? Or The Magic Christains cashing in on the film? Come And Get It written by Paul McCartney and originally done by Bad Finger so I'm not sure what is going on here as this sounds pretty close to the original, either way the B-Side is the tits. It's not hard to do, but i'm confused....

Tuff Darts - All For The Love Of Rock 'N' Roll

Breaking away from the cover scene for a moment today we have some Tuff Darts.
Tuff Darts were an American Punk Rock Band. The band reached their greatest fame in the 1970s with such songs as (Your Love Is Like) Nuclear Waste and their biggest hit single, All For The Love of Rock and Roll. The band appeared at popular New York City clubs like Max's Kansas City and CBGB and had only released one album, 1978's Tuff Darts!, produced by Bob Clearmountain and Tony Bongiovi, released by Sire Records; before breaking up a short time later.

Having played in bands since the early 80's, i know a little about what these guys are talking about. when they sing "i don't care about the money, i aint seen none." Truer words were never spoken. So it IS all for the love of Rock and Roll!!!


This is from the Live at CBGB's album on Atlantic records of all labels and from 1976. And imho this is just a GREAT Rock and Roll song from oft overlooked band. And even thouh this has its punk pub rock leanings, this is a Rock and Roll song. I suspect that a few of these guy had mustaches and were playing cover songs of Freebird a few years earlier but they got it right with this one!

It IS All For The Love Of Rock 'N' Roll i do what i do and have been doing for a very long time!

I dig this tune immensely... And what would Halloween be like without some Witch action? Throw is some fuzzy wah wah guitar and once again count this devil in!!!

The Rattles began their career in the same Hamburg scene where many Liverpool based UK rock groups got their start. They met The Beatles in 1962 and played alongside them on three occasions in Germany; at Munich, Essen and Hamburg. In 1968 they recorded "The Witch", written by Hildebrandt, which was a hit in Germany. The group was forced to split up owing to army service and other reasons and a new line-up formed, although Hildebrandt remained as songwriter and record producer. They enjoyed sustained success in their own country through the 1960s, and recorded a new version of "The Witch" in 1970 which became their only international hit.

"The Witch" went Top 10 on the UK Singles Chart, in addition to hitting the Top 20 in Austria and on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. By April 1971, it had sold over one million copies, with the Rattles becoming the first German group to ever appear in the U.S. charts.
