Snow - Song Of The Sirens
A few weeks ago I posted a 45 by Snow here: This is an album cut from the self titled album on E pic records from 1968. This is a pretty heavy, dare i say doom-ish track for 1968. Maybe proto-doom? I mean Black Sabbath is a few years away and I can't think go too many bands that were playing this slow and doom like. Maybe Iron Butterfly or Blue Cheer, but at any rate this is a cool heavy track on an otherwise fairly light affair, that only hints at psych rock here and there, mostly playing the pop angle.

Well, here is something i rarely ever do... Pay too much for a record. See, this 45 has been on my want list for a long while and when one came up on eBay a little while ago i sort of went crazy. I had numerous bids on several other 45's and when i pretty much lost them all i went a little overboard on this one because i was pissed and swore i wasn't going to let this get away. So here it is, a record i payed way to much for.... Some serious proto metal thud rock that sort of sounds a bit like Poobah. Heavy riff & fuzzy phased out solo... Enjoy, I'm gonna go cry...

The Headstones - Snake Dance / Buying Time - What People Say / Carry Me On
Couple of cool heavy rock psych jams with a slight southern rock vibe by The Headstones on the Rome Records Inc. label out of Columbus Ohio. Years unknown, but they put a killer heavy rock album out in 1974 under just "Headstone" called Still Looking. And I'm still looking for a copy for years now..... One of these days i will get a copy. SOON! Until then enjoy these 2 45's.

Uforia - Out Of Control
Very little info on the net this one, but what I found was it is from 1980 and they were from Cleveland. If that is true it's very metal for 1980 and pre-dates a lot of NWOBHM and west coast thrash by years. Pretty cool, dirty & heavy as balls "biker rock". The slightly inept playing makes this a perfect fit for the stupid metal shit I love.

Electric Lady's - King Kong
Don't know why more people don't dig this 45. Its heavy as hell... Heavy funky soul!
At 20 years Doris Jones formed a group called Sex, Love & Life with her sister Lumishia and a friend; the threesome played places like the Galaxy, the Jupiter, and the Boston Globe. In 1972, as the Electric Ladies, Jones and two other girls recorded "King Kong" on Mainstream Records. The record stiffed in the States and Britain but i think it's great!

Sending this one out to my lady friend who by the way is about thee most awesome lady in the world. So much so that on October 7th 2011 the devil will no longer be single! (sorry ladies) The devil aka the clown, is marrying the lady! So i am sending this out to her because she turned me on to this band. I just picked this up for her because i know she liked these guys and thi sis right up her alley. This is from rave records from 1992, even though the wiki entry says 1991, and on groovey grey marbled vinyl.
Named for a Wipers song, Germany's Alien Boys were one of the first European grunge bands. The group formed in the late '80s and released their debut album, Seeds of Decay, in 1990, their follow-up, Doom Picnic, arrived the following year and was produced by grunge pioneer Jack Endino. The group released a third album, Necropolis , and toured extensively, but broke up in 1994.

Love Sculpture - Forms And Feelings (Selected Cuts)
Love Sculpture were a Welsh blues-rock band of the late 1960s, led by Dave Edmunds (born David Edmunds, 15 April 1944, Cardiff, Glamorgan, South Wales), plus bassist John Williams - stage name John David (born John David Williams, 19 January 1946, Cardiff, South Wales) and drummer Rob 'Congo' Jones (born Robert Jones, 13 August 1946, Barry, Glamorgan, South Wales).
Love Sculpture formed in Cardiff in 1966 out of the remnants of another local band called The Human Beans, and disbanded in 1970, although Edmunds went on to enjoy solo success in the 1970s. The band itself was essentially a showpiece for Edmunds' considerable technical ability on the guitar. Love Sculpture mostly performed blues standards, slightly revved-up, but still largely reverent to the originals, releasing their debut album, Blues Helping with such songs as "Summertime", "Wang Dang Doodle" etc. They are best known for their 1968 novelty hit in the UK Singles Chart, a high speed cover version of the classical piece "Sabre Dance", by Aram Khachaturian, released on the Parlophone label (R 5744). The recording was inspired by Keith Emerson's classical rearrangements. "Sabre Dance" became a hit after garnering the enthusiastic attention of British DJ John Peel[3]. In December 1968, the UK music magazine, NME, reported that Love Sculpture had signed a U.S. recording contract with London Records, guaranteeing £250,000.
This was followed by a second album Forms and Feelings, with songs including: "In The Land of the Few", "Farandole", "People People", "Seagull (West Coast Oil Tragedy)", written by Paul Korda, and the equally fast cover of Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me". The U.S. version of the album also featured a recording of "Mars" from Gustav Holst's The Planets, but Holst's estate refused to license the tune for the U.K. version.
