Jumbalayah - Some Sign

Great & underrated hard rock / proto-metal from 1976. You can still get this 45 for around 20 bucks so if your into heavy 70's rockers get one now.

Junior Farrington, Jr. and the Possums - Or What

I've asked this question many time before with greatly varying results.....

B-grade country from 1976 on the DOG records label (100) by Junior Farrington Jr, huh? A Junior Jr??? Yep. Written by Walter Carter. Whos that? I suspect that this is a private pressing because i couldnt find anything about Dog Records or Junior Farrington Jr for that matter....

Rambling Dogs - Triboro Bridge - Eye Of The Needle

So i picked this thing up not knowing anything about it but it looked kinda weird and man am i glad i did. The A side is not really my thing. Its a goofy calypso tune done in a kinda "Fugs" way about traffic here on the east coast. It's OK, but the winner is the Flip called "Eye Of The Needle" which is also done in a sorta Fugs or early Country Joe and Fish style psychedlic late 60's trip out vein but from 1976....

This 45 was released under "Rambling Dogs" but They realeased a full length album under the name "Elmer City Rambling Dogs" in 1975. And this 45 was realeased with only the label on the A side and i only know that the flip is called eye of the needle because while looking for info on the band i stumbled upon another blog called Glorify The Turd where the lead "screamer" Teeny Tar of the "Elmer City" Rambling Dogs posted the folowing info:

the elmer city rambling dogs also released a 45 record. the a side was a song by james rowland called TRIBORO BRIDGE. it was about fighting traffic in new york city trying to get to the TRIBORO BRIDGE. the b side was a song by me teeny tar called EYE OF THE NEEDLE. it was an anti-drug song. the a side only has a label which has the dog dirt records logo and underneath that is an 1940 airplane pulling a banner that says “presents” and to the right of that is a sideway headshot of king kong looking at the banner. the b side has no label but it does have eye of the needle.

talk about rare. i don’t think you could ever find this.

You can read the whole article and comments from band members HERE:

Sadly after reading the entire comments section teeny tar along w/ a few other members are no longer with us. But thanks to them for creating such a cool little obscure musical nugget. Now i have to track down the full length!

Streetwalkers - Red Card - (A Few Tracks)

A minor curiosity here because Streetwalkers featured ex-Family members Roger Chapman and Charlie Whitney and future/current Iron Maiden Drummer Nicko McBain, this was The Streetwalkers one and only UK hit LP, charting at No. 16 in the summer of '76.

Pretty standard stuff. A few "rockers" but nothing special. Pretty typical of that year (1976) when most of the heavy rockers were all going for a more polished sound. Sounds a BIT like some later era Nazareth or some shit... A bargain bin purchase only... Unless you are down w/ mediocre mid 70's rock....

There is an uptempo cover of Otis Blackwells

I also include the back photo of the band with Nico in it because he is such a handsome man....

The Real Thing - You To Me Are Everything

So i bought 2 boxes of records recently of mostly 80's punk and new wave stuff with a little rock thrown in the boxes, and while digging through the boxes when i got them home i found this odd little thing. I say odd because it just seemed out of place amongst the Blondie, B52's and Knack records so i took a peep around the interwebs and found out its a highly sought after piece of early funky DJ disco vinyl that goes for a few bucks. So now i give it to you for nothing...

This Liverpool-based group had its origins in the Mersey boom. Lead singer Eddie Amoo was a former member of the Chants, whose excellent beat singles garnered considerable praise. Although they failed to chart, the Chants continued to record for various labels until the name was ultimately dropped. The Real Thing emerged in 1976 with 'You To Me Are Everything', which reached number 1 in the UK. They were also very snazzy dressers, just check the youtube clip...
