Peroxide (Lyn Todd Band) - Heart Disease - Christine

Don't know anything about singer Lyn Todd, but backstage mentor and Hi-NRG luminary Bobby O went on to notoriety with Divine and then fame with the Pet Shop Boys. He's basically the star of the show here, even furnishing a sharp Midnight Express-style instrumental, "Metropolis Suite." Otherwise, Lyn Todd belts out a batch of dazzling rock/disco ditties that never outstay their welcome. The remakes actually emerge weaker than the killer originals on this great but very rare record.

Lyn Todd's only known album sports the auspice of future disco magnate Bobby Orlando, who played most of the instruments and wrote most of the material. The resultant Lyn Todd record showcases excellent '70s rock bolstered by nascent Hi-NRG. The talented Orlando immediately went on to launch his independent label O Records, which featured Divine and the Flirts, among others. Two members of Lyn Todd's band, sax-blowing keyboardist Mamie Frances and guitarist Geoff Lipp, also played with New York punkers Arthur's Dilemma, Peroxide, and Now.

The above was lifted from the web and is about the full length album that Lyn Todd put out in 1980. It was all the info i could find about Lyn Todd and i could not find anything about this 45 release. This must be from before the full length album because i don't hear any "disco" influence on this punky power pop/rock 45...?

I got this single as a gift from my buddy Big Tim over @ Ugh! Blog whom I've known for many a year now and i can't thank him enough as this a kooky little German punk rock 7 inch from 1978 that i did not have! So thanks Mister. From what I've read this is one of the 1st self released German punk records and an important one in German punk history.... This definitely has its roots in the world of Rock musically, at least to my ears, but leave to the Germans to write a song about beating off all night long...

I had always thought that Bad Guys came before The Worst but i was just told from Greg Gory of The Chronic Sick that The Worst came first THEN they changed to the Bad Guys but after everyone told them this was a bad idea and they then went back to being The Worst.

Good thing they did too because this record is no where near the ripping hardcore awesomeness of what The Worst were. What we have here is a more punky power pop type style. I guess these guys were trying to be more "mature"....??? I for one am glad they went back to the jersey shore knuckle head hardcore shore-core thing. Its not a bad record but it aint The Worst.... heh....

The Offs are a punk/ska band from San Francisco, started by guitarist Billy Hawk and singer Don Vinil, and later joined by Bob Steeler on drums and a rotation of horn players including Bob Roberts, Richard Edson and Roland Young. The Offs were major players in the early days of the San Francisco punk rock scene. Their first record was a self-released 7" single featuring a cover of the Slickers' "Johnny Too Bad" with the Billy Hawk-penned "624803" on the B-side. Subsequent releases include the singles "Everyone's a Bigot" (which appeared on the Alternative Tentacles hardcore/art punk compilation Let Them Eat Jellybeans and "You Fascinate Me." Lead singer Don Vinil was known for his outrageous on-stage behavior. Fellow San Francisco punk group, Dead Kennedys had their first show with the Offs in 1978. They frequently played at San Francisco's famed Mabuhay Gardens.
The Offs also went through a number of bassists, including Denny Boredom, Olga de Volga and Fast Floyd. Eric Peterson joined as bassist in 1980, just as the group decamped San Francisco for New York where they quickly became a regular fixture at such New York institutions as the Mudd Club, Danceteria and Max's Kansas City.

Yes this record as seen better days... the cover is a little beat up and the vinyl a few clicks but i just found this at a garage sale and only for a buck. These Dangerhouse singles don't turn up so often in the wild so for one dollar this was a bargin, water stained cover and all. ok, so it's not the dils, weirdos, bags or avengers but still.... it was only a dollar! anyway, obsolete really is a great guitar driven punky ROCK song. And that makes sense since Mr. Werth was a one time member of Audience, who were cult British art rock band which existed between 1969 and 1972.

Some pretty tight punky progy metal-ish tunes from 1978... Check out that DOOM breakdown in The Demon @ around 2:26 and tell me these guys never listened to Black Sabbath. I originally bought a copy of this in the early 80's and have no idea where that copy went. I turned this one up a while back and glad i did... This is some cool stuff right here. The pics on the back always reminded me of the Alex Harvey Band.... I never owned the LP from 1979 but here is a vid of a different version of Puppet Life... Still heavier than your average punk...!

Today on this VERY snowy day you get a kinda punky garage psych tune... Has a little bit of a 66 vibe but goes for some psych moves and what the fuck with the crazy theremin sound? is that theremin or one of those plastic whistles with a slide? I don't know anything about these guys but from the sound i'd say this is 1967 but what the fuck do i know. Ah, fuck it, no ones listening anyway...
