Still digging through tapes. This one sounds familiar like this is an unfinished tape that SHOULD have vocals but was passed around pre-vox added? The sound is very NJ in the 90's. Like i'm sure who ever this is played with Ripping Corpse, Times Up, Human Remains, maybe Dead Guy or Dirge too!? and all that other metal crossover stuff that was going on at The Fastlane in Asbury Park at the time.... Don't know anything about singer Lyn Todd, but backstage mentor and Hi-NRG luminary Bobby O went on to notoriety with Divine and then fame with the Pet Shop Boys. He's basically the star of the show here, even furnishing a sharp Midnight Express-style instrumental, "Metropolis Suite." Otherwise, Lyn Todd belts out a batch of dazzling rock/disco ditties that never outstay their welcome. The remakes actually emerge weaker than the killer originals on this great but very rare record.

Lyn Todd's only known album sports the auspice of future disco magnate Bobby Orlando, who played most of the instruments and wrote most of the material. The resultant Lyn Todd record showcases excellent '70s rock bolstered by nascent Hi-NRG. The talented Orlando immediately went on to launch his independent label O Records, which featured Divine and the Flirts, among others. Two members of Lyn Todd's band, sax-blowing keyboardist Mamie Frances and guitarist Geoff Lipp, also played with New York punkers Arthur's Dilemma, Peroxide, and Now.

The above was lifted from the web and is about the full length album that Lyn Todd put out in 1980. It was all the info i could find about Lyn Todd and i could not find anything about this 45 release. This must be from before the full length album because i don't hear any "disco" influence on this punky power pop/rock 45...?

Any help on this release would be appreciated!?!??

Goofy names are nothing new in Rock & Roll, with the misspelling of band names and use of Umlauts and symbols, i never really understood it and as you can tell by this 45 its been going on for a looooooooong time.

I pulled this little New Jersey gem out of a box of shit recently. A nice little garage number. Nothing to punky or wild but cool non-the-less. I'm always on the look out for shitz from my home state. Don't ask me why. I was happy to leave that over run w/ Jersey Shore type scum bags, bennies, old people & half a police state in the dust, yet i still feel the need to collect all things Jer-Z....

As for the Pur' swa' der...s here is some info i lifted: Winners of the 1967 New Jersey Battle of the Bands, The Pur'Swa'Der...s would later compete in the National Battle and finish in a very respectable sixth place. A very successful regional band, The Pur'Swa'Der...s toured for three years as part of a traveling auto show, and recorded a couple of original singles. The band would later morph into The Strimbling Blimbles and record a very successful single before calling it quits in 1971.

In my lame attempt to find all thing NJ & NJ related i over paid for this "punk" rock 7-inch a while back. Actually it might have been part of a trade deal. Either way it was priced way to high and in a moment of weakness i snatched it up. You know how it is? You walk into a place with such anticipation that even if something is too much loot or you don't really need it, you don't want to walk away empty handed.... Anyway, its not a bad little record but nothing to earth shattering. Way more ROCK than PUNK.... Chalk off one more lame NJ record from my list.... Here is what hyped 2 death had to say about it below.

WHITEBOYS -Maybe I Do 3:44 (Sunrise Music)Orange, NJ '78: pre-Ambulance: Members of Orange, NJ's Whiteboys twice missed their shot at punk fame. Their only 45 has been kicking around for years in a "promotional-only" version that never had a PS. Radio and fanzines utterly ignored it and it never made it to retail. (Who knows if they ever gigged). Then they reconstituted as Ambulance and did a great 45 with a nebbishy pink PS that never even made the 50-cent bins, although it has belatedly ascended into the KBD whacko$phere.

Kind of a strange one here. On the surface this looks like any other b-grade AOR record from 1977. But the 1st thing i found odd was the fact that this was released on the De-Lite record label that is pretty much known for Funk and Disco records so when i saw these denim & polyester clad hair farmers i thought WTF? Are these white boys trying to get funky? But no, this is a standard rock record and not to far from the radio rock that was out and about in the mid/late 70's. Think along the lines of Styx, Journey, Kansas, Boston, Etc. Some sounds a bit earlier as well maybe like those couple of Paris albums featuring Bob Welch. There is even a kinda hillbily shit kicker tune and a Jethro Tull sounded flute rocker. Over all its actually a pretty enjoyable rockin' little record. There is even a radio sounding hit w/ "Love Again"... That should have been huge on the radio back then. Once can't think that if these cats weren't so damn ugly and on a disco label, that i can't imagine knew how to promote a rock record, they might have been famous.

In my never ending quest to find all musical things New Jersey i have unearthed this weird little private Rock nugget. It was recorded at Trax East in South River N.J. by a good friend of mine Eric Rachel. it kinda has a somewhat Punk or Punky vibe. And I'm sure if it was from 1978 instead of 1984 it would be a high dollar KBD? (Ha Ha) item. Either way I'm lost on the Hey Leo "where'd you get the hat" joke. But it aint too bad of a tune. Your Fool is a more straight up Power Pop (poop) tune. Not too shabby. I kinda dig it. It sounds a little bit like Ace Frehley from KISS on vocals.... Looks like he has another 7 inch from 1981 but I've never seen or heard it. Got any info?

Sometimes i wonder why i like a certain thing and this is one of those cases. I make no apology for liking crappy music. i like A LOT of stupid shit. I have a wide pallet when it comes to music, but i do wonder sometimes.... This here crap falls somewhere between Asbury Park N.J. City Rock Ala Bruce Springsteen and South Side Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and at times some sorta Bluesy New Wave, but all from Australia which makes it even more strange. I still can't put my finger its appeal to me..... Elvis Costello thought so much of Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons' single "So Young" that he recorded a version himself. Not sure what that says about me liking this.... maybe i just like the album cover..... Yeah, i think that's it.
