Pretty good hard rock that borders on bonehead cruncher and glam-ish rock. Sort of sounds a tiny bit like Rose Tattoo. Much better than their 2nd single.

Released in 1974, this is the ultra-rare, white label Promotional Only 7", 45rpm EP by the Tampa, FL trio of 20-year-old power poppers, Amnesia "Ahh..." (3:40) This is Earshot Records TC-1128 The songs were recorded at Bee Jay Recording Studios in Winter Park, FL, and engineered by Bill Vermillion.

Glam-rock band Angel, was a concept from Andy Scott and Mick Tucker from Sweet. The band was formed in 1974 from the members of Pebbles, at a time when bands such as Slade, Sweet, Mud and Suzi Quatro were dominating the European charts.

The band members were:

Martin Kemp: (Bass)
Steve Rickard: (Drums)
Bob Banasiak.: (Guitar, Bob replaced Joe in August 1974)

Can you say Glam Rock Boy Band....??? Still a fun little record. But I'd rather go put some Sweet any day....

Slightly sinister glam rock by Dutch band "Lemmings"...

The Lemming (formerly known as Lemming and before that as Life Color), a Dutch hard rock band between 1973 and 1975 scored three hits in the Dutch Top 40 .
The original lineup of Lemming in 1973 consisted of lead singer Wally Lock (stage name: Wally McKey), guitarist Hans Vos and Harry Bout , bassist Tinny Durrell and drummer Tony Gloudie . Proposal was the band The Lemming to mention, but for the word "The" was under Willem van Kooten then to old-fashioned. In 2002 the band was re-established. Of the original members were there only Wally Lock and Tony Gloudie in the new band.

The Troggs - The Troggs 1975 PYE REcords

The Troggs were one of the toughest and most gloriously unpolished bands to emerge from the U.K. during the British Invasion era -- the leering, monolithic pound of "Wild Thing" and "I Can't Control Myself" was about the closest thing to the Stooges that emerged on vinyl before James Osterberg reinvented himself as Iggy Pop, and lead singer Reg Presley all but defined the word "lascivious" with his guttural howls and moans on their best recordings. The Troggs had dropped off the charts by the end of the '60s, but they were the sort of band that simply didn't believe in giving up, and in 1975 they returned to the studio to cut their first album in five years. Simply called The Troggs, the album found the group updating their sound just a bit, with the results at times suggesting a cross between Status Quo-style boogie and blue collar glam in the manner of Slade, especially on the honest self-celebration of "Full Blooded Band." The Troggs is dominated by covers, boasting only three new songs, but one of them, "Summertime," was inspired sleaze in the classic Troggs tradition (and features the best rudely suggestive stutter since "My Generation"), and you can't argue that the grimy and stripped down re-imagining of the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" (which rewrites the opening line as "I like the clothes she almost wears") took the song someplace Brian Wilson never would have imagined. The Troggs' take of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" doesn't need to go on for five-and-a-half minutes, and the reggae-influenced recut of "Wild Thing" doesn't work especially well, but The Troggs demonstrate that these guys never forgot how to be rude and crude in the studio, and at their best they turned it into an art form -- not that they'd ever dream of calling it that.

AAAAAAHHHHHHH..... It's saturday morning, the kids are asleep and the lady is out food shopping and the dogs are being surprisingly quiet, (probably eating my shoes again) so I am on my 2nd cup of coffee and i actually have time to write something! So here is a record that has been on my plate for the last week solid. Self titled from 1977 by a band called Fringe Benefit.

I had never heard this record or even knew it existed until I stumbled upon a copy in a record store in Philly the other day. It was CHEAP (1.99) and looked interesting. So I bought it.
It kind of had a punky glam cover and being from 77 and on the capricorn label, a label associated with more Southern Rock then glam, took a shot. Even though it happens to be from 1977 it sounds older in most spots, 74 or maybe even early. At the heart of it all it’s just a nice well played & produced AOR record but there are plenty of other sounds going on. Some late 60’s pop ala string and horn arrangements on a song or two, some west coast singer songwriter type sounds, even a Queen meets Rush heavy prog mash up that could have been a extra track from Yes - Fragile/Close to the Edge era; Even a little Glammy pub rock via Slade/Sweet, but mostly acoustic guitars rule the roost here. Also throw in a few covers, All Shook Up/Elvis and Suzanne by Leonard Cohen… Sounds like a strange mix but it all works. Maybe I’m getting old but really dig this record. It has not left my player to and from work all week… By the looks of the cover the band had some high hopes for success.... not so much.

So considering I'm pretty sure this thing is way out of print and is very under the radar here it is in its entirety.

Was God an Astronaut and When She's Next Free being my 2 fave tracks but all are worth a listen, who know you may just enjoy it as much as me... If not, oh well. maybe next time.

PS... The Devils Music Blog has quietly crept past 1/2 a million hits.... Not all that impressive in the web world but not to bad for my crappy little corner of the music blog world.... cheers to those of you who continue to support this little slice of musical retardation.

The Sweet - Man From Meca

Mostly known for their sickeningly "sweet" bubblegum brand of pop "glam" music, what we have here is a real MUSCULAR rock workout by The Sweet.

This aint no "Fox on the Run" or "Ballroom Blitz" or even "Little Willy" which just so happens to be the A side here. But this B side is a bit of Heavy Proto-Metal from 1973, and while this isn't quite on par as say Sabbath, Heep, Purple or the heavier side of Zep, this is certainly equal or better than any of the 2nd tier rockers like Foghat or Nazareth ever came up with... And while The Sweet certainly had some edgier songs this one really does it for me. One can only imagine if they put down the hairspray and leather trousers and actually tried to rock what other great heavy rockers they could have came up with.
