The Hearts - Oo-Wee

Just picked this up @ the flea market. Great rockin' doo-wop/R&B by the hearts from 1955, who happen to be one of the very 1st "girl groups". I lifted the below from the web. Click the read more Here: link to read the whole deal on The Hearts.

The Hearts was a group formed in New York City in the early fifties. They were one of the very first "girl groups" that had success in the R & B field. Zell Sanders was a budding recording industry entrepreneur bucking the system as a female in a male dominated world. The Hearts consisted of Hazel Crutchfield, Forestine Barnes, Louise Harris, Joyce West, and pianist and male member Rex Garvin. Finding a label to record the group was not easy but soon Sanders had made contact with a small local label named Baton Records and its neophyte president Sol Rabinowitz. He liked what he heard and in the first few days of 1955 "Lonely Nights" and "Oo-Wee" was released on Baton # 208...

Kill City - Secret Smile - Beggin For More - Cancer of the Mind

Kill City was an LA punk & rock band that consisted of members of The leaving Trains (Tom Hofer) The Web (T. A. Black & Andi Hayes) & Brad Holtzman (Darb) from The Need.

Their only single on Dionysus is a nice rocking slab of female fronted rock punk that splits hairs with X (Billy Zoom guitars) & The Stooges w/ a lil' dirty sounding Blondie thrown in....

Love the cover, and the cool color vinyl made this 99 cent addition well worth it....

Electric Lady's - King Kong

Don't know why more people don't dig this 45. Its heavy as hell... Heavy funky soul!

At 20 years Doris Jones formed a group called Sex, Love & Life with her sister Lumishia and a friend; the threesome played places like the Galaxy, the Jupiter, and the Boston Globe. In 1972, as the Electric Ladies, Jones and two other girls recorded "King Kong" on Mainstream Records. The record stiffed in the States and Britain but i think it's great!

Carol Jarvis - Rebel

He's different, yes, different
From others I know
They call him a rebel
But I love him so

He's got ways about him
I don't understand
And yet he's no rebel
When he takes my hand

My friends say I'm foolish
That he's not my kind
But his tender kisses
Have made up my mind

He's different, so different
I'll have to agree
But though he's a rebel
He's just right for me

My friends say I'm foolish
That he's not my kind
But his tender kisses
Have made up my mind

He's different, so different
I'll have to agree
But though he's a rebel
He's just right for me

1957.
