The Kruisers - C'Mon Sweet Baby / Karen
A side is a pretty crude riff on Bo Diddley.... I read somewhere that someone called it "punk". I wouldn't go that far but teenage ineptness comes to mind, which is fine by me. I LOVE that sort of thing. Couple kids in the garage that stole a few of Dad's Pabst Blue Ribbons and cranking up their Sears Silvertone guitars and amps and going for it. The flip is a try at a more pop sound but it still comes off as crude and teenage. Good single.

Mithrandir - Magick E.P.

British NWOBHM band active in the early 1980s.
Members, Graham Gargiulo, Keith Billson, Paul Chester.
This weirdo is from 1982. Slightly inept and naive. You can tell these kids were just going for it the best they damn well could. It lacks any real power but makes up for it with sincerity and guts. I love this EP. Not the best studio production either but then again i can't imagine they had any real budget. This is what the infancy of Heavy Metal is all about for me. Kids doing it on their own and creating, trying the best they can to make some shit happen. In that way metal and punk aren't that far apart IMHO. Just different in subject matter and style of playing. Don't let the punks fool you, they all wanted to play guitar like Eddie VanHalen! hahahaha.....

Hush - Magic Touch

Hmmmmm... Not sure what to make of this one. It wants to rock but falls a bit short. They should have turned up that fuzz track in the background and mixed down that clean guitar that is way up front. There is a certain ineptitude that i admire and the guitar player really tries hard for that solo section and the breakdown where it's just the guitar noodle. Even the drum solo section sounds like Fred Flintstone falling down a flight of stairs, yet i still like it somehow....

Uforia - Out Of Control

Very little info on the net this one, but what I found was it is from 1980 and they were from Cleveland. If that is true it's very metal for 1980 and pre-dates a lot of NWOBHM and west coast thrash by years. Pretty cool, dirty & heavy as balls "biker rock". The slightly inept playing makes this a perfect fit for the stupid metal shit I love.
