Cliff Martin And His Cliff Dwellers - Back Street Affair

Some more early country music w/ Cliff Martin And His Cliff Dwellers doing Back Street Affair on the Crest record label. Scant info on this, so again, i have no idea what year but has to be the 50's? Any help DrunkenHobo? This one kind of slinks along with some creepy fiddle and steel guitar and a kooky vocal delivery from Mr. Martin which creates a pretty somber tone. Nice.

edit: Bob The Scared Data Miner said 1953. Thanks Bob!

From Label design I'm guessing this Crest label became Golden Crest to avoid confussion with the Crest (CA) label. Both (NY) have the Huntington address. Crest (NY) also had Tom Edwards Cook Country Jail Crest (NY) 45 - 301a Johnny Cash Bopper + Crest (NY) 45 - 502 Cliff Martin Older & Bolder

Yo Dick- Jesse Dayton & Brennan Leigh cover this ditty on their smash hit album "Holdin' Our Own". I would highly recommend everything Jesse's done, and he has a very diverse catalog- honky tonk, rockabilly, Kinky Freidman covers, and Rob Zombie. Jesse wrote & performed the songs for the Banjo & Sullivan album (including "Dick Soup" and "Lord, Don't Let Me Die In A Cheap Motel") the band who were massacreed in the movie Devil's Rejects. I had the pleasure of seeing Jesse at The Broken Spoke in Austin several years ago, no B&J songs that night. Hope you survive the Blogger massacre.
